The colors displayed on a screen can vary considerably from reality, which is why it’s important to check in person for optimal rendering.

How does vinyl work?

Learn more about our vinyl transfer process.

This technique uses a die-cutter to cut your design into a vinyl film. The excess is then removed and we transfer your image to the garment using a heat press.

frequently asked questions

Do you have any questions?
We've got the answers.

All questions
  • What is the minimum order quantity for vinyl?

The minimum order quantity for vinyl is 12 units. You can have several different designs and garments to reach this minimum.

  • How long does it take to produce vinyl?

It takes between 10 and 15 business days to complete a vinyl project.

An expedited printing option is available at a cost of 20% of the invoice before taxes.

  • What is the maximum printing area for vinyl?

The maximum dimension for vinyl is 12” wide by 14” high. The maximum dimension may vary depending on the product to be decorated.

We cannot print on seams, nor can we print on the outside of a piece. There must be a safety margin of 0.5” – 1” between the print and any edges or seams.

  • What is the maximum number of vinyl printing colors?

Vinyl personalization is limited to one color per design. If your visual contains several colors, we recommend another technique such as screen printing, embroidery or DTF transfer for optimum results.

  • What varies the price of vinyl printing?

The price of vinyl printing varies only according to the size of the print.

We always advise our customers to reduce the print size and the number of locations in order to lower the cost of a heat transfer project.

Certain surcharges may apply depending on the situation. For example:

An unconventional printing location (sleeve, pocket or other specific placement) will require additional handling in order to print.

  • How durable is vinyl?

Customers often tend to think that vinyl is inferior to other printing methods. However, we work hard at Intik to dispel this myth! We use quality products and professional equipment to guarantee unsurpassed durability.

  • Is there a limit to the detail on vinyl?

Yes. Vinyl is not recommended for very fine designs or designs with many small details, as thin lines or complex elements can be difficult to cut and transfer. For this type of visual, screen printing or DTF transfer is preferable.
